FAQ

What is Chiropractic Care?

According to The Association of Chiropractic Colleges, "Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs and surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health."

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Chiropractic adjustments, when performed properly by a chiropractor, are very safe. The chiropractic adjustment is non-surgical and medication-free.

Adjustments are safe for people of all ages, including infants and the elderly. It is even safe for pregnant women.

Should I use ice packs or heat wraps?

This question depends on the injury. In general, ice or cold applications reduce swelling and are usually used for new injuries.

Heat wraps can assist in relaxing and loosening tight tissues. Heat is more commonly recommended for chronic pain and stiffness.

Can I get chiropractic adjustments when pregnant?

Yes. During pregnancy, there are many physical and hormonal changes, especially in the pelvis, posture, abdomen, and spinal curvature.

This can lead to spinal misalignment, pain, pressure, and discomfort. Special treatments and adjustments can be very helpful.

After I go to a chiropractor, will I need continual visits?

Generally, no. Treatment plans can vary from one to multiple visits over weeks or months. Even after the pain has subsided, the cause of pain might still exist.

It is highly recommended to continue visits. Just like going to a dentist, regular appointments can prevent future injuries.
